WWE RAW Reaction -
Wrestlemania Go Home Show
Last night was the final RAW show on the road to Wrestlemania 32, and it was pretty good overall. It succeeded highly in one regard, which I will explain later.
Check out my great, good, bad, and really really pathetic from last night's RAW.
Check out my great, good, bad, and really really pathetic from last night's RAW.
Great
- I loved the opening segment with the Undertaker and Shane McMahon. I really thought this was the best they have done to make this match feel like the real main event of Mania. Shane flying through the air with the elbow was great.
- I also really liked the backstage promo between Vince and Shane. Very well done and it was smart doing it backstage and not in the ring so they could get all their lines in. I really wish wrestling would go back to more backstage promos instead of wasting all this time with in ring promos.
- The New Day came out to their best crowd response yet. They came out with Xavier Woods mentioning the official cereal for WrestleMania is "Booty-O's," which had it's own graphic on the TitanTron. They were so over and nobody needs to speak but Xavier Woods.
Good
- News Flash, Paul Heyman is such an excellent promo. He once again built the match between Brock and Ambrose excellently. The only thing that brought this down for me was their treatment of Ambrose who comes off like a numskull telling dumb jokes sometimes, instead of a bad ass ready to fight. The fight will be fun, but they have failed at making Ambrose look like a legit threat to beat Lesnar.
- I really like the build to the Divas title three-way, as Charlotte has come off really strong, and has been built like a true champion. So when she loses, well if, the win will mean something.
- I liked that they put the guys from the ladder match on Sunday in into a tag match and I thought the guys worked really hard. The match was long and crowd did their best to ruin it with all their chants. But I thought the guys did their best to overcome it, and it was good to see Sami Zayn pinned Kevin Owens after the Helluva Kick.
Bad
- If I never hear another Authority promo again, I will be extremely happy. These guys came out and cut the exact same promo, TWICE!! Did we really need three beat downs on one show and a pull apart? And the crowd absolutely shit on Roman Reigns. Smh. Even after he did the big dive over the top rope, the crowd chanting, " You still Suck". This guy is doomed.
- Zack Ryder defeated Chris Jericho then got his ass beat right after the fluke win. I hate this type of booking. And days before the biggest show of the year, Jericho agreed to wrestle AJ at Mania. I don't like any of it.
- The booked Kalisto to wrestle Conor of the Ascension and thought this would get him over or make people care about a match with Ryback at Wrestlemania. I got nothing.
- The Jobber Battle Royal has reached new lows featuring Kane, The Big Show, Curtis Axel, Bo Dallas, Adam Rose and Heath Slater, Goldust, R-Truth, Konnor, Viktor, Damien Sandow.
Pathetic
- So don't get me wrong, none of this matters. But why waste our time building up a mystery tag partner for the Divas big tag match at Mania and build to a "babyface" run in by Eva Marie. Smh. That's right, the red head everyone hates because she sucks. This was the big reveal that they thought would get over. The fans booed her more than Reigns. The announcers didn't explain why Eva Marie was so unpopular with her teammates, like they've never seen NXT before. The crowd hates her because she sucks!!!!
I must say that while I have pointed out many bad and pathetic things about last night's show, I really left the show wanting to see a match I had little to no desire prior to last night. The Taker and Shane McMahon segment won me over. Now of course, I don't matter because I'm going to the show and would watch regardless.
But the question is, have they done enough to make more people interested in watching Wrestlemania. Will people subscribe to the Network to watch the show. I don't know. But what I do know is Roman Reigns is not hooking any new fans or going to be the reason for any additional buys.
But what does it matter, Wrestlemania is free anyway!!! Smh.
