Week in TV Run It Back
DVR Review - 1/27/17
Best Thing I Watched Last Week
Two weeks ago, a new series from HBO premiered entitled, The Young Pope, and I must say, it was very intriguing. I have always been a fan of time period dramas, especially the edgy ones that push the envelope like the Tudors. And this show, while very dialogue heavy to some, has really entertained me. The new Pope of the Catholic church is a young, brash, unorthodox leader that gained his position through some dirty politics. He was put in the role to be a puppet, but instead has taken the power and ruled his way. Crazy as hell!!! You have to check this show out, its well worth your patience, because it pays off.
What You Should be Watching
For years, one of the more unsung reality shows on TV has been Welcome to Sweetie Pies, on the OWN Network. Sweetie Pie's is a restaurant that was started in St. Louis, Missouri by the owner and head Chef, Ms. Robbie Montgomery. With the help of her son Tim, the restaurant franchise has become a major success and a booming business. The relationship between Ms. Robbie and her son Tim is absolutely unique. They lay each other out and act more like an old cranky married couple than mother and son. It's hilarious. But this season, things have gotten very strange. Ms. Robbie is suing her own son, because she feels he has opened too many restaurants and done so without her permission. She feels he has used the name she built to expand and it will water down the brand. How you sue you own son? This season is crazy and if you are a fan of a real reality show, what could be more real than this?!?!

The Affair on HBO
This week's episode was explosive and really arched some of the major storylines of the season. First, Helen revealed to her parents and children that she in fact was the one who killed Scotty and that Noah took the fall for her. Of course this story was told from her perspective, so it painted her as the valiant who couldn't lie any longer. Huge stuff. Then we learned that in fact maybe Noah has been hallucinating this whole time about the guy from prison who tried to kill him. In fact, he may have stabbed himself in the neck. Crazy twist!!! |
Homeland on Showtime
This season of Homeland has started with a bang, as we have learned Carrie is secretly working as a special advisor to the incoming President Elect. Saul suspects as much and questions Carrie directly on it, but she denied it. This was a huge revelation as we saw Carrie meeting with the new President, pushing her agenda to end the CIA. This is going to be a hell of a season, as clearly the dynamic between Saul and Carrie is way different. And then there is Quinn, who has gone completely off the rails since escaping death. Smh. |
The Young Pope on HBO
As previously stated, the Young Pope was the best thing I watched last week and is truly a show I think you all should give a chance. It actually airs on Sunday and Monday nights with new episodes. |
Monday
Scorpion on CBS
Wow, they got the hell out of me!! I thought Paige mother really fell in the cement pit. Yo I felt so bad for Paige when she was crying to the loan sharks. But it was the Ultimate scam. Loved it. I really can't wait for Walter to win her over because they truly belong together. |
Celebrity Apprentice on NBC
Chael Sonnen is an idiot, moron, dummy, and any other phrase of equal value. So he thought that causing a "technical difficulty" by intentionally cutting the cord to the computer would somehow go unnoticed and not get his ass fired. What an idiot. And I'm so glad they fired that loud mouth, no it all Portia as well. Thank goodness we don't have to hear her ramble any longer. |
SuperGirl on CW
I am very curious to see what's up with Mon-El. Clearly there is more to his purpose than what has been revealed so far, as this week we saw hints that he is revered by aliens we know to be villains. Very interesting episode. I loved Kara this week as she was aggressive as a reporter and as SuperGirl. Sometimes she is treated like a secondary character but not this week. Good stuff. |
Love and Hip Hop NY on VH1
Very sad episode this week, with Remy Ma announcing she was pregnant and then us finding out she lost the baby and can't have more kids. Terrible man. Cardi B and Tommy broke up finally. It was doomed all along since yo was going be in jail for YEARS. Smh. And quickly the Producer dude came back in the picture. Lol, he's no dummy. Peter Gunz, smh. Pathetic. |
Tuesday
Flash on CW
Iris in that red Outfit!!!! My God!!! This was a great return episode where Barry finally manned up and told Iris that he saw her death when he flashed forward. But this dude never learns. He stay messing with the damn timeline and everything is his fault. I really hope they cam change the headlines and save Iris. And Poor Katlyn. Smh. She is scared to death of transforming into Killer Frost. I hope they can help her cause it's sad. |
DC's Legends of Tomorrow on CW
What a crazy episode!! This had everything from Mick needing brain surgery to help him stop seeing Captain Cole, they found Rip Hunter and then lost him, and the most blind blowing moment was the reveal of a young George Lucas!!! This was great. I loved the fact that the timeline was changed because of Lucas not creating Star Wars and Indiana Jones. And it had a major impact on the story. Great great great episode. |
This Is Us on NBC
Man, this is the best show on TV. The true character of a show is the emotion it evokes from you, and every episode you leave from watch this show feeling something. I loved learning more about Kevin's past relationship and that he was married and divorced. It explains alot. The birthday party flashbacks were excellent as well. And Kate at the fat camp was full of emotions. Excellent episode |
Chicago Fire on NBC
While I love watching this show, it is by no means what i would call a great TV show. I love watching it and enjoy the cast but many times the plots and stories are so predictable and cliché heavy that I often become annoyed with how obvious the plots are. You could see it a mile away this week that the guy who pulled the gun on Casey was going come back for revenge for leaving him. But it was so unrealistic that it was just stupid. |
The Mick on FOX
Yo this show is nuts!!!! These poor kids are spiraling out of control and the effects of their parents deserting them are clearly kicking in. Finding out that their parents were relaxing in a hotel on the run through voicemail was horrible. But then after he dimed them out to the FEDS, the reveal that they actually loved the kids was a good cliffhanger cause now their location is known. The shoe heel taking the dudes eye out was CRAZY! |
Wednesday
Black Ink Crew on VH1
This nigga Ted. Smh. You knew he was going screw it up. A blind man could see it coming. But for him to just walk off and not come back like that was pathetic. I can't stand Duchess and I hate that Ceaser put her in charge of 113. Asian Yo is crazy!!! It had been so much scrapping this season that its hilarious. Osh... I mean Richard ain't fooling me. He's still a junkie in hiding. |
Are You the One on MTV
After the blackout last week, getting four beams this week was a great accomplishment. This show can't be the best way to find love because any true connection they make can easily be destroyed because it wasn't the match the showrunners chose before the show. Look at all the connections that were killed because of a lack of a beam of light. Stupid. Then they are forced to jump right back in with another person. Tough man. |
Designated Survivor on ABC
*Off this week* |
