Appreciate the Dominance of Serena Williams
Some things in life just make you scratch your head.
Here are the facts.
Think about that for a moment.
But the main fact is, Serena's dominance has been fueled by not giving a shit what you or anyone else thinks about her methods. Serena has been giving her haters the two-finger salute for more than half her life, and all the while she keeps showing just how great she is.
Serena has been breaking records in the tennis world since she first entered it as a teen, winning her 21st Grand Slam at Wimbledon last Saturday.
So with all of these accolades and all of the dominance we have seen from her, why is she so under appreciated? Is it the lack of respect for the sport of Tennis? I don't think so. Is it because she doesn't fit the mold of what is perceived as the image a female athlete should fill? Bingo.
Any unbiased observer can clearly see the hypocrisy in the fact that Sharapova makes so much more in endorsements than Serena. Its despicable really. Sure, Sharapova looks like the skinny blonde model advertisers dream of, but does that mean they think there is something wrong with Serena's body? Clearly.
But there are numerous articles that have touched on that subject over the past week, since the New York Times made an ass out of themselves. I want to concentrate on the greatness of Serena in the court.
Without question she is more dominant than Lebron, or Brady, or any other athlete you can name over the last 20 years. Even Jordan only won 6 championships and that was a team game. Serena has tallied 21 grand slams. And this run she has been on over the last few years, which are supposed to be the years she slows down, is simply remarkable.
For a woman of her size and power to be so well conditioned to outrun and out play females 10 years younger than her is amazing. Outside of injuries holding her back over the years, she shows no signs that she's done either.
I pay respect to the most dominant athlete I have ever seen and I am honored to have witnessed her entire career first hand. Brilliance and beauty.

- Should she win her seventh U.S. Open this September, she’d become only the second player to win each of the four majors in the same calendar year. (Graf accomplished the feat in 1988.)
- At 33 years and nine months, Serena became the oldest women’s tennis player to ever win a Grand Slam title, eclipsing Martina Navratilova, who won Wimbledon in 1990 when she was a month younger than Williams is now.
