The Greatest Woman I'll ever know
Today, children all over the United States are honoring the women they know as their mother. Some may be biological mothers and some may be the parent that raised them, but didn't give birth to them.
I have been blessed to be raised by my mother and have a relationship with her my entire life. My mother, Linette Causion, is the greatest woman I know. The unconditional love she has for her children is unexplained and only something me and my sisters can understand.
My mother is a soft spoken, well mannered, humble, God fearing woman, who raised three strong minded, outspoken and opinionated children. She was married to a man whom we inherited all those same traits from. Some for the better and some for the worst. Lol.
But it takes a special woman to understand and relate to us. I am very aware that my mother did not have it easy for many years, but her love for her family kept her strong and kept her committed to making life better for us all.
I can remember so many times where my mother has bailed me and my sisters out of a tough situation. Never holding it over my head, never treating me like I was failure. During my college years, life was far from easy. i wanted to quit and walk away. But my mother encouraged me, she supported me when nobody else knew what was happening, nor even cared. She always cared.
Our relationship is so unique because we don't even discuss many things, but somehow she always understands. That's a real mother. That's my mother.

Its amazing to look back over the years at all the great things our family has done. All the places we have gone, all the experiences we have shared. And while I respect and understand my father played a major role in many of these things as well, I would be ignorant and lying if I didn't note that it was my mother who really made sure things happened. My mother worked hard to make sure we were able to enjoy life and all its splendor.
I will never forget our adventure traveling to Boston for a Ravens vs Patriots game back in 2003. My mother won a trip through channel 13, and included was a two flight tickets, hotel, and game tickets.
The morning of the flight, we get to the airport, and my mother discovers that she left her credit card wallet at home. Smh. I'm broke, so I'm no good to anyone, and our flight is leaving soon. We call my father who dropped us off 20 minutes prior, but by the time he would get back to the airport, we would have missed our flight. So we made the decision to fly to Boston and have him wire us some money.
Well, we get to Boston, and the adventure begins. We had to pay for transportation from the airport to the hotel. So I had 30 dollars on me, which wasn't enough for a cab, and she had no cash. So we took the subway. Smh. FYI, Carrying luggage through the streets of Boston and on multiple Subways is something I wish on nobody. Then it started snowing. And of course we got bad directions, and got on the wrong subway line, TWICE.
We arrived in Boston at 11:25am. We got to our hotel at 6:30pm that evening. Terrible. Then when we got to the hotel, they wouldn't check us in without a credit card for incidentals, or 150 dollars for a deposit.
So we had to walk to the train station where the Western Union was to get the money my father wired earlier that day. After that 45 minute walk, we get there and he only wired 200!!!!!! We needed 150 for the deposit for the room. So for dinner that night, we ate chips and salsa and cheap pizza, and laughed about that crazy day.
Thankfully the next day, my father wired more money and we had a good Saturday in Boston. But on Sunday, the Patriots destroyed the Ravens. Smh. But the best part was, we experienced it together and will always have that story to hold onto and remember.

I'm just grateful to have such a great mother in my life. Words could never really do her justice. But I thank God for all the good times we have had together and pray that she continues to be in great health and well being. I don't know what I would do without my mother and I don't want to think about it. Aside from Jesus, nobody is greater.
Love you Mommy and Happy Mother's Day.
