Season 3: Episode 8
Orange is the New Black Episode 8
Inmates hate the new bagged disgusting meals Red and the Latinos are being forced to serve in the cafeteria. But the black inmates are still eating god with their Jewish kosher meals.
But the administration is noticing the increase in funds going towards the purchase of kosher meals so trouble may be coming for them. The administration is all about cost cutting and eliminating any program or initiative that may help the inmates is not their concern if it cost them extra money.
We also learn that Pearson, the administration guy who always is implementing the programs, is really not a bad guy an does try to push for some programs to make the prison better. But he's in over his head and simply is working for his father, carrying out orders.
Norma has been gathering quite a cult following all season.
Sofia's son Michael is being negatively affected by Benny, Mendoza's son. Sofia realizes that she is partly responsible for his lashing out.
Piper has the bright idea of buying all the Ramen noodles from commissary and using them as leverage to get the inmates to participate in her nasty pantie business. Smh. Piper convinces many of the inmates to participate. She also begins to seduce the new rookie CO, in hopes that he will be the mark that will help her get the panties out of the prison.
The new girl who works in the Whisper's shop with Piper begins asking questions about her relationship status.
Poussey is addicted to Suzanne's book, Time Hump Chronicles, and other inmates are strongly following it too. Crazy Eyes can't pump out new pages fast enough. Lol.
Poussey is really falling off the tracks. She is drinking more and more and Taystee is really worried about her. Poussey is depressed and lonely. Suddenly, she joins Norma's cult which angers Taystee.
Diaz is still struggling with the decision whether to give up her baby. Her mother keeps pushing her to to give it away to Pornstache's mother. All she wants is the money.
Diaz meets with Pornstache's mother and agrees to give her the baby under the condition that she writes to her with updates of how teh baby is doing. Diaz then finds out that her mother struck an agreement to get paid in exchange for the baby. Diaz is pissed. She breaks down and admits that the baby isn't Pornstache's. Tells her she was already pregnant before they had sex. The deal is off, the lie is out.
Pennsatucky develops an awkward relationship with one of the new rookie CO's. He escorts her on an errand run in the van and they end up at a pond feeding the ducks donuts. He's an idiot.
Healy is still not adjusting to the fact that inmates are preferring Rogers over him and they prefer her to be their counselor over him. Also, Red goes to him to help her get out of the kitchen and he tells her he can't help her. Red quits.
Alex thinks that Kubra had the quirky new inmate Lolly transferred in from the Chicago prison to kill her. Alex feels like she's stalking her. Finally Piper ask Lolly why she is staring at Alex, and she says because she's starring at her. But at the end of the episode we see that Lolly has been tracking everything Alex has done throughout the day and has been stalking her. Looks like she is there to kill her!!!!
Overall, very good episode, and I feel we finally have some story-line advancement to sink our teeth into. The lie about Diaz's baby is out, Piper's pantie business, Poussey joins the cult, Alex getting stalked, and the prison changes are steadily increasing until something is going to have to give.
Good episode.
