CC's Take: The Current One Term President
All thoughts and opinions are solely attributed to Larry Causion Jr., and do not reflect everyone who contributes to CausionCreations. No matter what, we always have an opinion.
If you are a loyal follower of this website, it's not that difficult to figure out where I stand on many social and political issues. But I try my best not to offend anyone who may disagree with me, while staying true to my value system and what I believe. To that effect, I make it a point not to react or comment on every news story that appears on my timeline each day, or every sound bite that dominates the conversation on Talk radio. I respect the fact that when you come to Causioncreations.com, you come for an escape and to read, watch, and listen to my opinions on sports, wrestling, movies and entertainment.
But the best part about owning my own website is that I get to make all the decisions and don't have to hide from any topic that I feel passionate about. So with that being said, Today I discuss a topic I largey have stayed away from in great detail, politics.
I am a registered Democrat that veers more towards the middle on a multitude of subjects. If you follow me here, you know I have a deep faith in God and am a Christian who follows the Lord Jesus Christ with all my heart. My Christian beliefs tend to cause me to have disagreements with some of my more liberal Democratic brethren, while at the same time, my more modern biblical interpretation puts me at odds with more conservatives as well. Though I am a Christian, I believe in freedom of religion, the right to choose, the need for stricter gun control laws, taking care of those who can't take care of themselves, racial equality, universal healthcare, equal pay, affirmative action, and a bevy of other more liberal viewpoints. So yea, I'm a liberal who believes in Jesus.
Now that we have cleared that up, let's get to the meat of today's topic, the man elected President of the United States in 2016, Donald Trump. The one term President.
Now, it wouldn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that I didn't vote for him, nor did I ever think it would be possible in a million years, that the guy I watched on the Apprentice for several seasons, telling people they were fired, would ever be the President of the United States. But it happened. Trump changed his persona and catered to millions of people who were looking for someone to fill the role of what they wanted as their President. A vote for Donald Trump was really a vote against the woman, Hillary Clinton, and even more so, a vote against the black man, President Barack Obama. It was also a vote for someone who says and does whatever he wants, without fear of consequence.
Let's be 100% real, there is no way in hell, a woman or a black man, hell and latino man, could say the things Donald Trump said during the campaign, or be accused of the things he is accused of, and be voted as President. No way. Up until Trump started to consider making a run at politics, and started accusing President Obama of not being a legitimate citizen, he wasn't even a Republican!!! He was a Democrat and supporter of the Clintons back in the 90's, but somehow people forgot that. Trump was actually considered a cool Hollywood celebrity type, who was friends and associated with some of your favorite celebrities and newsmakers. He wasn't political, and was businessman and TV personna. So when you see pictures of him and some of the biggest athletes, movie stars and musicians, its because he was just a cool guy who owned casinos and gave them comps. It wasn't until many years later did he decide to create this new persona/schtick for himself, and warp into this role he currently plays. He figured out he could say things, without really knowing what he's talking about, and people eat it up. He decided to pull the wool over many eyes of many idiots, and now he's President of the United States. And embarrassing us more and more each day.
You may ask, well Larry, why are you just now writing about this? Well, this website was on hiatus during the entirety of Trump's first year in office, and as I said, previously I tried not to discuss politics too often. But that was then, this is now, I have to!! Trust me, people who I previously liked, I cut off over their support for this moron. This guy who was elected to represent us around the world is an embarrassment and has no business being President of the United States. Not only is he openly discriminatory, he's a bigot. No doubt about it in my mind.
His infatuation with building a wall to keep out illegal immigrants from crossing the Mexican border is one thing, and I too do believe we need to enforce our immigration laws that we have in place. But to actively kick out people who have lived here their entire lives, and deport children who were innocently brought here and cause no harm or ill will to our country, is the most un-American thing he could ever do. This country was built by immigrants and while we should work to make sure everyone is registered properly and are paying their share like any other citizen, there needs to be an amnesty extended and a clean slate established before you just kick people out.
I too get frustrated when I get taxes taken out of my check every two weeks. I don't like having to comply with all the rules that seem to deplete the funds we earn, and I feel everyone who lives here, and is able to work and provide for themselves and their family, should be registered so they can pay their taxes and things like I do. I agree with that. But I also believe there is a way to help those who in need of refuge from a situation that has no hope. We should be helping people earn citizenship to our country the right way, and give them time to do so. I don't think deporting children who are innocent is the answer, nor do I claim to have the answers. But compassion goes a long way, and America has marketed itself as the land of liberty and opportunity. You should live up to that name.
Trump does not care what he says out his mouth, or what he tweets during one of his power trip rants. He has offended so many people on so many levels, it would be difficult to list them all in this one article. Just look at the turnover he has had in his cabinet, on his whitehouse staff, and the turmoil surrounding so many who have worked for him in just over a year as President! It's ridiculous!!
I could go on and on about his bigotry, in how he labeled black people protesting the killing of unarmed brothers and sisters at the hand of the police, as left-wing extremists, while saying that the white supremacists in Charlottesville were "great people". I could also go on and on about how rather than concentrating on policy and issues that actually have something to do with the office he resides in, he chose to involve himself in the NFL controversy involving Colin Kaepernick's protest against police brutality. I don't have a major problem that he felt compelled to speak his opinion, but what he said was highly inappropriate and far below the standard of how an American President should address anybody. Trump went on a daily tirade calling players sons of bitches and demanding the the NFL force the players to stand. Who does this guy really think he is? What country is this? America, land of the free, or Russia, run by the dictator Putin. Don't get me started on that...
But what really got me fired up was the revelation that a porn star by the name of Stormy Daniels, actually was having an affair with Trump, was paid off to keep it quiet, and we are supposed to just move on like nothing happened and it's all good. What!!!
Basically, Trump and Stormy were having sex behind Melania back in 2006, way before he ever decided he was going run for President. Ok, whatever, it happens. But once he decided to run, he had to tie up some loose ends that could come back to bite him. So he had his lawyer, Michael Cohen, pay her $130,000 in October 2016, a month before the presidential election, to stop her from discussing the affair and ruining his chance to be President. Yes, that's right, she was paid hush money so he could win the Presidency. And it worked.
Are you kidding me!?! This is your President. Bill Clinton was basically destroyed and faced impeachment for his affairs. This guy Trump hid information from the public by paying for the silence of a former mistress. And he won the election because nobody knew. Could you imagine if President Obama did something like this? They would have been calling for his head and called him every stereotypic name in the book. But we are somehow are supposed to just let this go because Trump is calling this a witch hunt by the media that don't like him? Bullshit!! This guy is pathetic!! He should be kicked out of office now, and not just for this, but he has a mountain high list of reasons this Presidency should be cut short.
But I know one thing for certain. If this country wants to reclaim any dignity or respect that the office of President once held, this guy is done after this one and only term. He's a pathetic disgrace to the office. An office that certainly had its flaws before him, but has sunken so deep into the gutter, it will take a miracle to restore some type of respect to the position. President Obama and this guy Donnie don't even belong in the same sentence together. If the Democratic party can't bind together and establish a candidate to take down this disgrace in office, they might as well dissolve the party. It will speak volumes about the state of this country if Americans with a brain elect this idiot for a second term. And unfortunately, I wouldn't bet any money against him, which tells you my opinion on the intelligence of the voting pool. They voted him in once didn't they?
