Orange is the new Black - Episode 2
Big story this episode is Caputo learns that the prison is set to close in 2 months.
There is a bed bug out break inside the prison. All bunk linen and clothing has to be sterilized and new cloths ordered. This causes alot of issues throughout the episode.
They run out of paper uniforms quickly, so many of the inmates are forced to walk around in their granny draws and bras. They have no mattresses as the old ones are burned and because the prison is closing, they won't buy new ones. Latinos cook up an oatmeal concoction to help with the itching. Exterminator finds that the bed bugs are in the books in the library too, so they too must be burned which hurts Taystee and Poussey.
Pornstach's mother comes to visit and she wants to adopts Diaz's baby. Diaz's mother shakes her down for money, in return. Little does she know its really Bennetts baby. Diaz mother tries to convince Diaz and Bennett that they should consider allowing Pornstach's mother to adopt the child. Diaz has 37 months left on her sentence and are really no other good options to raise the baby other than foster care. Bennett is completely against it.
So Bennett decides to ask Diaz to marry him instead and she says yes. Bennett visits Diaz's family and tells them the news. Her family is all fucked up and it makes him realize how tough it will be to raise his child alone. Diaz's mother's boyfriend gives Bennett the crib Diaz slept in as baby as a gift, and Bennett leaves it on the side of the road. Smh. Maybe he got scared out of wanting to raise his child.
Red is pissed at Piper about lying to her about her family store still being in business. Red also wants to divorce her husband for lying to her.
Piper tries to console Alex who is scared she's going get killed by
Piper tries to save Alex from getting thrown in the SHU after she goes off on one of the guards.
Piper then admits that she snitched on her and called her probation officer. Alex is pissed. They later have angry sex and make up.
Black is still trying to convince Nicky to move forward with their drug dealing operation. Nicky decides to ask Luschek to sell the heroine for them and he agrees. But when they go to get it from the vent in the wall, its gone.
Overall a good episode, but you can tell its more of a set the stage episode. I have a bad feeling that Bennett bounced and going leave shorty hanging. Especially given the flashbacks of his time in the military where it showed that he was really a scared punk when danger arrives.
