TOP FIVE SHOWS
OF THE LAST WEEK
NUMBER FIVE
For the People - ABC
I have been watching For the People since it premiered a few weeks back and I must say that am thoroughly impressed. I really love the concept and execution of this new show because it really presents a well balanced view of the law from the state and defense perspective. While shows like Law and Order and its multiple spin offs have shown us the perspective of law enforcement trying to prosecute defenders, and countless shows like Matlock and most recently The Good Wife have presented the defense teams POV, this show is the best example of a fair and balanced perspective of both. Its difficult to choose a side when characters from both offices have stories that make you root for the individual attorney and understand their idioly a bit better. This show has been able to capture that in a really unique way so far and I highly recommend everyone give the show a chance.
NUMBER FOUR
Grey's Anatomy - ABC
There was some really great stuff here with Owen flying to Germany to get with Teddy, only for it to fall apart because he's an idiot. Good for her for realizing that she has been and will always be a fall back and 2nd option for him. Hell of a scene when she kicked him out. Kepner had the best scenes this week as her struggle with her faith has really been a well.built story. Bad things happen to people, whether you are good or bad. We can't just give up on God and blame him. He is in control at All times. I thought this was very well done.
NUMBER THREE
Roseanne - ABC
After being off the air for many years, Roseanne made its return to TV on Tuesday and it was a smashing success in not only the ratings, but reception. I felt the hour long episode was really good and despite having clear political differences with the shows main character, I thought the episodes presented a different perspective than what we see on just about any other comey on TV. I also felt it was balanced, as multiple characters on the show did not share the same point of view, much like in real life. Overall, I laughed and enjoyed the show, which was the goal. If you want to get deep and political about it, have at it, but for me, I can watch and enjoy the show for what it was. Comedy.
NUMBER TWO
Homeland - Showtime
Another week of Homeland, another excellent episode filled with intrigue, wtf moments, and phenomenal acting by Claire Dames. Carrie just needs to give Franny to her sister and give that poor little girl a chance at a normal life. She's just not cut out to be a mother and nothing is more important to her than the mission she's working on at the time. I loved the plot twist where they used the lawyer to poison Dante, but did it too well nd may have killed him. What a great episode of a show I hope you all are appreciating for its greatness.
THIS WEEK'S NUMBER ONE
The Good Doctor - ABC
Season 1 finale of the Good Doctor was pretty much an excellent example of what makes this show so unique and fascinating. Shaun is such a dynamic character and my hat goes off to Freddie Highmore, who to me is one of the greatest actors in all of the business. To go from playing Norman Bates, to this role as Shaun Murphy has been extraordinary. I dare anyone to find two back to back performances on a series that compares to what he just did. The emotion he shows in his role as a person with autism is so believable, that you have to sometimes take a second look. The emotion he showed over finding out Dr. Glassman may be dying was raw, and heartfelt. Sensational even. Great job and excellent cap to the season.
