MLB Opening Day 2015
Tonight marks the beginning of new baseball season, and I for one am excited.
While football and basketball are the more flashy and excited sports to watch and follow, I love baseball in a special way. There is something pure and simplistic about the game that just keeps me entertained whenever I watch t, especially live.
I am a season ticket holder at Camden Yards and there are few things I enjoy more, after a long day at work, than walking over to the Yard and enjoying a game. It's just something about it I can't explain it.
I think back to my youth, going to games with my father at Memorial Stadium. Always a treat. I remember my first game at Camden Yards when the Orioles faced the California Angels. I remember the summer that Cal Ripken broke the Iron Man streak for consecutive games played. I remember the great Orioles teams of the mid 90's, including our wire to wire campaign in 97.
And yes, I remember Jeffery Mayer. Smh.....
So many great memories thanks to this great game of baseball. I love it. Including the magical run the Orioles made last year, capturing the division crown and beating the Detroit Tigers in the first round. I will never forget those great days at the Yard.
So as we begin a new season, there are allot of questions to be answered. Will the Orioles build on the success of the last few seasons, or will the lost of key pieces like Nelson Cruz, cause us to decline.
Well, the great thing about baseball is, I don't have to answer those questions today. Baseball has the longest season in professional sports, so there is plenty of time to ponder the future.
