TOP FIVE SHOWS
OF THE LAST WEEK
NUMBER FIVE
Power - Starz
I really thought long and hard about whether or not to include Power in my top five this week, which would have been unimaginable at the beginning of the seaosn. But honestly, I have not been impressed. The story progression has been very flawed in my opinion, and the seesaw of character emotion and portrayal has been too far fetched in my opinion. Ghost has become a bitch. Dre, who was presented as a new supervillain, is a bitch far too often. There are no repercussions for actions on this show anymore and the justifications just are not there. It's just too all over the place and unrealistic far too often.
NUMBER FOUR
Love Is - OWN
This episode was absolutely excellent, as it focused on the choice some make not to celebrate Valentine's Day. I thought the perspective and feelings expressed by both sides were quite insightful and the emotion relayed was exceptional. I love this show so much.
NUMBER THREE
Snowfall - FX
Its official, Franklin is a true boss. Watching the character development on this show has been so well done by the writers, and I'm so glad the focus has been extremely in line with what viewers were most interested in from season 1, the drug game. We are watching the business grow before our very eyes, and we are seeing the transformation of Franklin from a humble kid, to a drug boss. Very intriguing.
NUMBER TWO
Claws - TNT
This season has been so damn good and I feel I haven't really given it the high praise it deserves. Desna not only figured out she was being played, but came up with a plan to pit the people who played her against each other. The performances on this show should not be overlooked, and if you have not watched Claws or stopped for some reason, get back into it.
THIS WEEK'S NUMBER ONE
Succession - HBO
There is no show better than this on all of TV, and there is nothing anyone can say to convince me otherwise. The layers to the writing and storytelling is phenomenal and there are simply so many dynamic performances each week that its difficult to identify a huge flaw. The Roy family is so messed up on so many levels as it is, but this week we got to meet the kids mother and it was Glorious!!! She is the absolute greatest and should be a permanent fixture on the show moving forward. Shiv is ruthless and should not be marrying this goof. Kendall's takeover is going to blow the family up or blow up in his face and we are prime for an excellent season finale. I'm so sad there is only one episode left.
