Best Thing I watched Last Week: Scandal
Last Thursday's episode of Scandal on ABC, was television at its finest. Everything we have grown to love about the show was exhibited in the 1 hour program. So let's recap what happened.
The prior episode ended with Olivia's father, who many call, Papa Pope, showing up at Olivia's door behind Russell, her new sex buddy.
Papa Pope tells her she has 48 hours to shut the whole "destroy B613" mission down, before he lets the truth out about everything with her and the President, including all of his secrets as well. Father Pope is excellent in his role as normal.
All the while Russell is drugged and bound on the floor. Or so we thought.
Marcus Walker, the black activist who fought for justice for the boy who was killed by the police a few episodes ago, is now a candidate for D.C. mayor, but he’s sleeping with the mayor’s wife.
Olivia and the crew are called to the mayors's mansion by Walker, where they find that the mayor's wife is in the bed dead and Marcus is sitting there looking like a deer in headlights. He hid in the closet as three masked men came in and killed her.
We later find that the Mayor set up his wife's murder because she was cheating on him. Marcus decided to admit that he was sleeping with the Mayor's wife and then exposed him for killing his own wife.
Another good story line involved the Vice President. Instead of just going along with whatever the President wants, Susan Ross challenges him on a new bill that the President wants passed through Congress.
Mellie and Fitz picked Ross because they wanted a political rookie to mold to their wishes. They didn't know she’d be the kind of VP who insists on reading a 1,200-page bill in its entirety before voting on it. Cyrus is pissed, but Susan cannot be moved. She takes her position seriously and will not vote “yes” unless she really believes in it.
Susan and the President eventually work together to make the Bill better. And Millie announced that she's running for the Senate.
Operation Bring Down B613 continues as Jake testifies to David, with Olivia present. Jake admits that Papa Pope ordered a plane carrying 329 civilians to be shot down and Fitzgerald Grant, you know, the guy who is not the President, was the pilot. Yea, and it's on the record.
The Climax of the episode comes when Jake is attacked by a masked man in the empty Pope and Associates offices. The masked man gains control of Jake and stabs him, taking off his mask revealing its Russell, the dude sleeping with Olivia!!!!!
He stabs Jake repeatedly, and says “Rowan always went on and on about how special you are.” Yes, Russell is B613. Of course he is, and Olivia is Team Bad Decisions because she gave him immediate access to her life.
So it looks like Jake is dead. Bu with this show, you never know.
Hands down, the best thing I watched last week.
