In Memory of my Grandmother, Jean Causion
Early Monday morning, after a long fight, God called my grandmother home to rest in his arms. I appreciate the condolences and prayers that have been sent me and my family's way, but I seek no attention, and would like to simply honor her memory in my own way. I just take joy in knowing that she is now at peace.
My grandmother is the strongest, boldest, and wisest woman I have ever known. If you really knew her, it would be difficult not to love her for just who she was. My grandmother is known by many as Mom Mom, but i have always called her my Mum Mum.
Mum Mum gave birth to 14 children, one of whom was my father, and Larry Causion Sr. With 14 children, Mum Mum became an excellent manager of money, which translated into the many great years of service she gave to the Trustee board of the Wilson Park Christian Community Church.
Mum Mum loved her family, her church, and helping people. While she often had a tough exterior to some, and always spoke her mind, even when she said things you didn't like to hear, she was real. You rarely had to guess what she was thinking cause she would tell you. Lol.
I think back to all the people she has helped over the years. Whether it was babysitting their children, giving them a place to stay, loaning or giving them money, cooking a meal, bailing them out of jail, paying their BGE bill, or simply giving some good advice, she was always helping somebody.
In 2006, my respect and love for Mum Mum grew to heights that words can't explain. My mother and father were having serious problems, and separated, due to my father's struggle with addiction. Though it was her son, my grandmother held him accountable. After my parents separated and my father was sick, Mum Mum moved him in her house and took care of him until 2012 when he passed away. Words can not express the debt I owe her. Words can not express the love she showed. Words can not express how much I love her.
You see, the conversations I had with her are my comfort. The time we shared is what I hold onto. Those who didn't have the relationship with her that they should have may feel a certain way, now that she is gone, but I can only speak for me, and I feel at peace. Because I appreciated what she did while she was here. Truly her labor was not in vain.
There are so many stories I could write about, so many memories. But today I rejoice simply because I know she's resting with the Savior. And one day, the sky shall unfold and the dead in Christ shall rise first, and we that believe shall all shall be caught up to meet Him in the air.
Oh how I want to see my Father there, my grandfather, my aunt, my uncle, my cousin, and now my grandmother. Cause when we all get to heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be. When when all see Jesus, we shall sing and shout the victory.
Rest on Mum Mum, until we meet again.
