Who Would've Thought
This past Sunday at WWE Backlash, AJ Styles fulfilled what I'm sure was a life long dream of his, and became the WWE Champion. I have watched AJ over the course of his entire career and I for one was very proud of Styles reaching this prestigious goal. Wrestling in PWG, ROH, TNA, NJPW, is all great. But there is a such thing as the major league organization, and no question, the WWE is that.
Styles now joins several of the very best pro wrestlers over the past 10 years who have made it to the WWE, after wrestling for years in various territories around the world, and fulfilled their dream to be champion at the highest level. It really amazing when you look back at the list of performers that once would have never gotten a shot in the WWE, but have made to the top of the heap.
First, check out AJ's championship victory over Dean Ambrose from WWE Backlash this past Sunday night on the WWE Network.

If you would've told me two years ago, that in September of 2016, the three champions in WWE would be AJ Styles the WWE Champion, Kevin Owens the Universal (Raw) Champion, and Shinsuke Nakamura the NXT Champion, I would have laughed in your face. But unbelievably, legit three of the real best performers in the world are actually being recognized as the champions.
AJ Styles is legit the best wrestler in the world in my opinion. Not only does all his work look great, he is able to make his opponents like million dollars. Hell he made Dean Ambrose look great on Sunday. He's simply the best and nobody on the WWE roster deserves it more. Nobody.

Kevin Owens was the best guy in ROH on the mic and worked a hell of a stiff, exciting style for years. He was a sure fire lock as one of the best performers that WWE was overlooking. And finally they signed him, and let him be himself. They made him NXT champion, had him beat John Cena to win the U.S title, he's been IC champion, and now he's the top champion on RAW. Nobody deserves it more, as in through all the bull crap, you can always count on Kevin Owens to put on a hell of match and entertain the crowd like none other.
In my opinion, Kevin Owens is the legit next big superstar if they push him right. He's Steve Austin. don't worry about his body size. The guy has it all. Great in the ring and the mic skills like none other.

And as an aside, think about this one, had Finn Balor not gotten injured, the top three champions would all be former New Japan Pro Wrestling Stars. Hell, the two main roster champions, Balor and Styles would be both former leaders of the Bullet Club!!!! Wow.
And finally, the NXT champion, that's right the champion of developmental, is probably the most charismatic and entertaining wrestling in the entire company, Nakamura. If you don't know about this guy, I suggest you subscribe to this website, NewJapanWorld. Nakamura needs to be up on the main roster, wrestling on Smackdown, like yesterday!!! He's so damn great, and it still shocks me that the WWE was not only able to sign him, but has recognized how damn great he is and is pushing him.
All in all, I'm still in shock and can't believe that a company run by Vince McMahon would allow these great talents to be champions. I know that sounds bad, but its true, Vince wants guys who look like what he wants to look like, jacked up body builder types. None of these three fit that mold and yet they are the three best performers in the company and you can't teach that.
