Road to Summerslam: Vol. 1
We are officially on the road to Summerslam, the WWE biggest event of the Summer. The show will take place August 23rd, live from the Barkley's Center in Brooklyn New York.
Last night, the main event was announced, and it will be a rematch from Wrestlemania 30, when the Undertaker returns to avenge his his lost, against the man who broke his Wrestlemania undefeated streak, the Beast, Brock Lesnar.
I must say, booking wise, I have no clue why this match is being booked. The streak was ended a year and half ago, and since then, the Undertaker has returned and even wrestled and won at Wrestlemania. So why then is he so angry a year and half later, and now want revenge? Wouldn't this have made more sense to have happened at last years Summerslam or even this past years Wrestlemania. Smh. So no, it makes no sense.
Business wise, I completely understand it. Two larger than life mega stars coming together for a clash at the biggest event of the Summer. It sells itself. But lets look at how this has been done so far.
Ever since Wrestlemania 30, in every promo, Paul Heyman has brought up the fact that Brock Lesnar is the one who broke the 21-0 streak. He's the 1 in 21-1. It has been placed in our minds over and over again never to forget it.

Well, Taker returned at Wrestlemania this past year, after Bray Wyatt goated him and persuaded him to come out from his hole and face him at Mania. Taker came, he won, he left. No mention of Brock, no hint that he still wanted revenge. Nothing.
Well, as of late, Brock has been more of a fan favorite and babyface. This led many to believe that Brock vs Taker would not happen. Until last Monday, when Brock took the steel steps and broke Kane's ankle. The announcers even went so far as to say that Brock broke the Undertaker's brother's ankle. You knew that was not just done for no reason.
At the Battleground PPV last Sunday, as Brock was in position to regain the WWE World heavyweight title, the lights went out, and the gong sounded. When the lights came back on, Taker was in the ring. He had returned for revenge. And Brock, for once, looked human. I don't like the way they did it. Undertaker basically destroyed Brock and laid him out with two tombstones.
Some will say, Taker needed to look strong here, to make sure people see the two more like equals, rather than Brock vs the old broken down, washed up Undertaker. In some way i get that. But Brock is a different animal. You don't book him like everyone else. They could have protected him more and been more creative, while building the same interest. They soon corrected that mistake.

Last night on RAW, they did what they should have done on Sunday to kick this thing off right. Heyman came out and cut one hell of a promo about the Undertaker planning his revenge for a year and a half. This was the definition of a money promo. When he was done, even I, who couldn't had cared less moments before, wanted to see the fight. Lol. Greatness.
Then, the Undertaker came out and confronted Heyman, and just as he was about to attack, The Beast arrived and darted to the ring. The brawl was on. LOL. Ah it was great.
HHH sends out geek security guards to break it up, but they can't do nothing with two monsters, and the fight breaks out again. Its pandemonium!!!!!
Then the locker room empties of all the mid carders and they try to restrain the two men. It doesn't work and they go to have the best pull apart brawl I have ever seen.
The anger and the intensity continued to build and this whole scene made you forget all about what happened wrong at Battleground. Because now both men had something to fight for. Taker is pissed that Brock broke his streak and gloated about it forever. Then he broke his brother's ankle.
Now Brock is pissed because not only did Taker cost him the title at Battleground, but he also kicked him in the balls and laid his ass out. True emotion was on display and it engaged the audience.

And they were not done. they went backstage and still kept fighting to get to one another. Brock Lesnar is just so great they way he lunges at Taker an leaps on piles. He makes you really feel that he can kill anybody in site.
And just to show how much of blood feud this is being built to be, HHH had to have both men arrested so they would stop fighting. Greatness, greatness, Greatness.
I would say that the road to Summerslam got jump started with a Bang!!!!!!
