Road to Summerslam: Vol. 3 - Future Stars
The Future WWE Main Event Stars
This years Summerslam is being headlined by a doble main event, worthy of biggest PPV of he summer. In the main event, the Undertaker looks to avenge his lost to Brock Lesnar from Wrestlemania 30. Also, its champion vs champion, when Seth Rollins defends the WWE world title vs John Cena, who also puts hos United States championship on the line.
Now don't get me wrong, I think both matchups are worthy and I am looking forward to them. But I really feel the WWE missed the mark a few weeks ago, by not getting that United States championship off of John Cena and onto one of their rising stars.

Since Cena captured the United States Championship at Wrestlemania, he has elevated the title to heights we haven't seen since the glory days of WCW in the 90's. Cena has put on great matches with everyone, week in and week out and I have strongly enjoyed it.
In fact, Cena's United States title open challenge has routinely been the highest rated and best segment on RAW each week. Cena's series of matches with Kevin Owens has been the highlight of the Summer and elevated Owens directly into the main event.

Owens has everything it takes to be the next big superstar in the WWE. He can talk the people into wanting to see a match, and once the bell rings he can deliver. He has a unique look that is not trditionally what you would expect as one of Vince McMahon's chosen guys, but his talent proves that its not all about looks.
Owens was in a great position to capture the U.S title from Cena at Battleground, but the plan changed and instead, Cena was victorious in the 2nd straight match, after Owens won his WWE main roster debut.
I think this was mistake. Using Cena to elevate your young talent is a proven formula that works, if done properly. And I thought it was perfect time to put Owens over and have him carry the prestigious title Cena built over the past 4 months.

Another man that clearly is more talented than his push, is Antonio Cesaro. Cesaro to me is the best in ring performer in the entire company. The guy has great matches with everyone and can make anyone look good. I just will never understand why this guy isn't groomed to be the next world champion.
Why waste your time trying to build Roman Reigns, when you have a man who is built and ready to run in Cesaro standing right there and ready to main event and tare the house down every night. Smh. I get the accent issue in some ways, but not really. This guy connects with the fans and his matches speak for themselves. His matches with Cena have all been great. His matches with Rollins, fantastic. He should be a focal point of the company.

I love Rusev. This guy has shown more personality than I ever thought he had in him. His in ring work is every good for a big man and his ability to sell is one of the best in the WWE. While I really dislike the decision to split Rusev and Lana, I lust say that he has been phenomenal by himself when it comes to showing his range and charisma.
The guy is a monster inside the ring and has a very good wit about him on the mic. I can easily see him eventually turning baby face and being a huge star. I just really think that multiple defeats to Cena hurt him in the yes of many fans, but the progression in his personality has undid those wrongs.

So there are three guys who I believe deserve to be featured closer to the top at this years Summerslam. Owens and Cesaro look to be facing each other one on one. Someone has to lose, which is unfortunate, because both are great and should be protected. And Rusev looks to take on the man who stole his woman, Dolf Ziggler. All in the mid card.
And trust me, there is nothing wrong with either of these match ups. i just feel, the WWE could utilize these guys higher on the card, fighting for the United States and Intercontinental championships, if they are not in the pans for the World title. They should be seen in the same light as Vince sees Roman Reigns. Because all 3 have the goods to be stars of this company, and they can deliver on the mic and in the ring.... unlike some. But let's see how it plays out.
