Punk got Punked - UFC 225 Review
On Saturday night, former WWE champion CM Punk, stepped inside the octagon for just the second fight in his career, and got smoked by fellow novice Mike Jackson. It was yet another pathetic display by Punk, who failed to prove his doubter wrong. Check out the....lowlights.
It really was a piss poor performance and he showed you nothing that would make a person be excited to ever want to watch him fight again. And Dana White pretty much confirmed after the fight that this would most likely be it for him in the UFC.
So many fighters with a lot of experience resented the fact that Punk was allowed to basically walk off the street and get to PPV fight paydays, with no experience, and they delighted in him looking like he was out of his league. And it not hard to understand why. If you have been busting your ass to be good to very good at your craft and another is allowed to walk off the street and leap frog you for a PPV payday, you'd be pissed too. Joe Rogan held no punches on his radio show this week.
Punk signed with UFC in late 2014, when he was 36. Almost 4 years later, he looked like a guy with only a few months of training, like a scrub you see at the local gym. Sure, he had guts and lasted 3 rounds with Mike Jackson, but he had no business being in there. Jackson wasn’t close to a UFC fighter, but he was a fighter. Punk trained for years to be a fighter, but athletically, he just wasn’t. He looked bad, and its time for this dream of his to go away.
