Best Thing I Watched Last Week:
American Crime - Ep #2
This week, my choice for the best show I watched last week has to be the second episode of this season of American Crime, which aired last Wednesday night on ABC.
I really am a huge fan of the American Crime series. Season 1 was excellent, as it really was an examination into issues that happen in this country everyday, but from different cultural, ethnic, and gender perspectives. Really reminded me of the movie Crash in many ways.
The show uses the same cast and utilizes them in different roles in season 2, which I find very clever. This model gives viewers the satisfaction in knowing that we will see a complete story with an ending by seasons end, and that we don't have to worry about the characters being killed off and not being seen again on the show.
The story surrounds a student being sexually abused by players on the basketball school at a prestigious school. We have seen this play out in the news in the past, most notably with the Duke lacrosse team. Of course the show puts a spin on it by having a young man being the victim, but that element just adds to the intrigue of the story because it adds in additional prejudices and elements of drama.
This show is great in so many ways and you should really give it a try if your not watching. With out a doubt it was the best thing I watched last week.
