Crew Chronicles: Hip Hop
Today I introduce you to a few of my friends.
Causioncreations.com isn't just about me, but it's about what I feel you the reader will enjoy. I have a "Crew" of friends that are extension of my family. And my Crew is comprised of genuinely good people with a wide range of personality traits.
Today, I turn over Causioncreations.com to four members of the Crew as they discuss a topic that I am no expert in. Today's focus is the current Hip Hop scene. I love music, but personally, I'm an R&B guy. But this is what they do.
This discussion went down on our GroupMe page this morning. Enjoy.
Kendrick Lamar's new album drops March 23rd
Rick: I'm ecstatic. I predict another classic. YEAH I SAID ANOTHER!
Justin: Can he afford to have a flop?
Calvin: I'll wait and listen before passing judgement.
Rick: Hell no Justin, He set the bar to high.... it would never happen.
Calvin: Everybody flops. That won't stop you from listening to the next one.
Nique: Not after that king of rap stuff...
Rick: "King Kendrick and I meant it"
Nique: I don't know about never.... No rapper stays hot forever. Unless he dies after a great one
Calvin: Better statement would be no rapper stays at the same level, there's progression or regression
Rick: Yeah Nique but u don't come back on your second after coming at everybody in the game and dropping one of the hottest singles of the decade (I stand by this) and flop
Nique: Oh true! He better come correct
Rick: True statement Calvin. JUSTIN WANTS HIM TO FAIL!!!!!!!
Justin: No not at all. I hope he does well.
Recent Rap History Discussion
Nique: I'm just thinking was there ever a rapper that steadily progressed.... They have all had that one and it just didn't seem the same after. Y'all said that about Nas and jay z.... Just trying to think of one
Justin: Jayz is the bar. All rappers strive to be that great.
Rick: Jay progressed. He just had to change his style to flourish but American Gangsta showed me he hadn't lost it. Biggie did but that's unfair cuz he only had 2 albums. Pac progressed steadily I think. Jadakiss
Justin: U got to have at least 5 albums.... Jada smh
Calvin: You can have less than 5 Big showed progression
Nique: Justin, So I take it you don't support that Big being the greatest thing?
Rick: All 3 of Jada albums was FIRE!!!
Calvin: Opposite end, 50 regressed same material can only go but so far.
Justin: Big is legendary, but then again its 2 LPs. Great ones but he got cut short.
Rick: Yeah I just lost interest in 50. I did like the Valentines Day Massacre
Nique: I think more rappers regress than progress nowadays.... It separates the greats from the good right now
Justin: Who's to say if he could truly adjust to the times. I would expect that. If DMX stopped after 2 he would be great, but he couldn't adjust. Shout out to my man X, greatness early.
Nique: For a min I thought T.I. would be good... But Idk what happened.
Rick: I was just about to mention DMX... But I looked thru my Itunes at his discography and remained silent lol
Justin: Ti got rapped up in his own hype
Rick: TI..... Good rapper but couldn't get into his albums
Calvin: Flesh of my flesh wasn't anywhere close to its dark and hell is hot
Nique: Lmao... Flesh of my flesh, blood of my blood... Awesome....
Justin: That's why I have so much respect for jayz... That's albums of high standards
Calvin: But point being even jay flopped granted it was R Kelly's fault
Justin: Wait a min.... What do u mean it was kelz fault. They had the hardest intro of all time!
Kanye West
Nique: Not once was Mr west mentioned!
Justin: So we ain't going talk about the boy yeezy? Greatness from Chitown him and kelz
Nique: I like kanye sometimes, he just does too much
Justin: And yes yeezus what's the limit? He'll be back on his game the next one
Calvin: I actually would prefer another Kanye and J instead of a Jay and B
At this point I don't think Jay should drop another album. Some collaborations, some singles, but that's it.
Rick: Jay wont drop a single for a while. Kanye smh. Everything he put out was average.... Except MBDTF!!!! Yeah I said it. Likable, listenable but average
Calvin: Wait late registration, college dropout 808's (it's grown on me)
Nique: You didn't like college drop out?
Rick: MBDTF, his only classic!!! I will never support him after that last Blaspheme Travesty!!!!! Nique done got me started lol
Justin: U hate Him!!!!! Admit It!!!!!!!
Rick: I liked College Dropout. I liked 808s. It had to grow in me and I had to go through some struggles first to like 808s. lol I don't hate him Justin.
Trust they kept going and going and going.....
