Trust me, this is not a topic I take joy in discussing. I went back and forth, since the inception of my website, on whether I should or shouldn't talk about serious issues. This website is designed as a platform for me to discuss and express my views on topics that I am entertained by or passionate about. So, after deciding against it previously, today I give my unfiltered thoughts.
I hate when people mix issues. It is a pet peeve of mine that really aggravates me to my core.
If an unarmed man is shot and killed by a police officer, the police officer must be held accountable and punished by the law.
Bottom line.
Those who are employed to enforce the law and protect the citizens of this country must not only be subject to the same laws they are enforcing but also held to a higher standard. If you shoot an assailant, you must only do so as a last resort, after you have determined that if you don't shoot them, they will shoot you. That is my take on that. You can have your opinion, that is mine.
But a growing issue I have is with many peoples need to change the story. I don't know how many idiotic pundits on TV I have seen stating that black people need to worry about black on black crime and not just march for this current issue. Again, while in theory, the point has merit, why do we continue to mix the issue?
Sure, black on black crime happens everyday in this country. Just as white on white crime happens, and Latino on Latino crime as well. But what does that have to do with the recurring issue of police killing black men? Are all these victims harmless angels who have never done anything wrong in their lives. Certainly not. But does that mean they are deserving of being slain in the street by the men hired to enforce the law. I think not.
So I decided to scowl social media for some responses to the issue and post them here. And without question, a variety is what I got. Names are anonymous.

In these days in times I was never really a person that was down with protesting that strategy worked in the 60's and 70's but to me it just looks foolish today....If black people really want to make a change in the city it comes through actions....stop killing each other stop, stop selling drugs to each other, and stop robbing and stealing from one another....Your doing nothing but bringing the city down....If anything if you are going to protest something....protest for better schools, better housing and getting some of these homeless people off the street.....Just my two cents

I'm so sick of this black lives matter crap when it's convenient for people. Our youth kill each other as well as our elderly. No one marched for that. Oh tall don't care HUH. I hate weak ass people. Stop standing up for trendy reasons. If you're gonna live for a cause. Do just that. LIVE FOR THE CAUSE, but don't join a movement that you're not gonna follow through it all.

Dont nobody see the big picture yet right???? We didn't learn much from the "mike brown " case huh .... Aint nuthin changing .. Yall gonna see what they want yall to see BC yall too small minded .. All they have to do is create the image to make u lose it!! We going do all this acting out , but where the gray family , who picking them up ?? Making sure they good?? Where his parents? Family? Camera guy?? Not one interview, YouTube chat , nothing?????? Let me get killed by a cop!! It would b hella interviews , fb love from my people!!! All I'm saying is we gotta b bigger than what they want us to b ... Dont b the animals they waiting for.

Im tired of it all. The murder of Black people with no consequence, the "social media activists" who complain and do nothing, the marches. U know... Insanity is defined as doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. I attended every march, chanted, walked miles with my right fist in the air (mostly alone, with not one of the people who like to talk about the issues all day via social media or message). Im done. Im tired of the peaceful demonstrations. I will not participate in one more. Im not goin to the gun range for nothin. The old way doesn't work. I refuse to bring a picket sign to a gun fight. They waged a war, lets engage them

And I respect your view and right to fight the battle in the best way you deem possible. My issue is with people diminishing the efforts or lack thereof of others. Everyone's passion is not equal. Everyone's cause is not the same. Some people want better but don't have a solution for how to get there. I don't disrespect their love or concern they just aren't called to act in that same way. Its not a singular issue.

I said this a while ago, someone should have took that charge vs Zimmerman things would be different. Plain and simple. But talking does spread the issue, that's the worst thing, even if people are fake, is not talking about it. Not everyone is built for a war, but let them talk, and let the soldiers get ready

Alot of The people who talk about it online that I know don't protest are in messages. Talk with no action, just like faith with no work is dead. What good is preaching to the same 200 people on ur friend list doing every time this happens. I refuse to discuss further in any setting but a strategy meeting. It's useless. I'm done

I don't disagree about the talking about it part, which is why you have yet to see me comment on the issue. I have been asked time and time again to write my thoughts on the issue and have evaded it purposely, because I don't want to simply be a talking head, without a solution. I have no real solution that is full proof. You can't change the mindset of everyone. It will never happen.

Right, these are public lynchings going on, and we rely on the judicial system , but u can't rely on laws made by a certain heritage and then enforced by the same people. It doesn't work and it will never work. What u have to do is give these killers reason to pause. They need to understand that yea u can take ones life, but this ain't the 1860s this ain't the 1930s public lynchings will not be not be tolerated today, of so, hey I got a gun too.

I just hate when people trying to negate the issue by saying black people kill each other everyday. If I could stop that, I would as well, but that is a separate issue.

And I just saw someone post that saying we protest the cops killing someone but don't protest U.S. Killing each other. That's a huge problem but not the issue at hand.

That's foolishness and a "cop" out. That doesn't give a excuse to take ones life , especially from those that are supposed to protect it. And the thing is, its not a black/white thing totally, its an authority issue. We as a nation have like the most cop related deaths then any other leading nation... That's a problem. But race is a huge part.

Police brutality has been a issue forever, but the awareness and spotlight has increased greatly in this social media, camera phone age. Its an abuse of power and authority. Which is why the people we vote into office must be held accountable. Laws and rules must be changed as it relates to consequences for the police. They should be held to a higher standard, not given leniency when they abuse their power. That's where the change must begin, In my opinion.
That's where I hold our President and his law makers most accountable. He has failed in this area. If he were to make any change in this last run of his term, this issue needs to be addressed.

Lol, that's funny, at the end of the day, these European ppl will lookout for their own first and foremost, and he is powerless to make big changes simply because of our tripod government

People will break the law. That is human nature. You can't stop it. But the consequences must be stiff and in place.

But as I believe Justin said you can't expect laws to protect someone they were not meant for. The Department of Justice investigations are getting to be a joke and just something that is supposed to give hope

Again, if you have the solution, do something about it. I never claimed to have the answer. My point is, one thing that a protest or call of action can force is elected officials to push for certain laws or changes in government to take place and we must hold them accountable. Marching and chanting "no justice no peace" makes for a good visual, but without a real list of demands or consequences, what does it prove or really change. No justice and peace remains. The law for shooting an unarmed citizen or a citizen who can be detained without lethal force needs to change. The penalty needs to increase greatly and every case should be streamlined into the federal court. That is a tangible change that I can realistically get behind as a call to action. Other than that, many of these other changes are social changes that will be with us always as racism and discrimination will be. So the individual must protect themselves as best they can, unfortunately.
