UFC Fights I want to See in 2016
This past weekend, the UFC had three big shows on three nights. During the course of those three days, three of the companies biggest stars were defeated, when Paige VanZant, Chris Weidman, and Jose Aldo all lost their contest. In the case of VanZant, she is young pretty blonde who the company was hoping to build to be the next Ronda Rousey for the straw weight division. As for Weidman, he was the companies undefeated middle weight champion. And Aldo, well, they wanted him to lose.
On the flip side, the company also got its wish, and their new poster child and biggest emerging star Conor McGregor became the new Undisputed featherweight champion. McGregor is a walking advertisement for the UFC and he brings in viewers with his excellent ability to trash talk and promote fights. McGregor is rare, in that he has the ability to run his mouth, like Chael Sonnen used to, but much better than Chael, McGregor can back it up inside the Octagon.
The win by McGregor sets up so many possible match ups that would be excellent to see. But first and foremost, I want to see this.

Conor McGregor vs Jose Aldo
I'm sorry, but we still have not seen the fight! 13 seconds is not enough for me. I give Conor all the credit in the world for kncoking Aldo out. But come on. It was great punch, not a dominating victory that would make me say that he is head and heels better than Aldo. No way in hell. I have seen Aldo dominate this sport for too long for him not to get a mandatory rematch. And the presidnet is there. When Cain Valasquez got knocked out by Junior Dos Santos, he got his rematch, and dominated him. When Anderson Silva got knocked out by Chris Weidman, he got his rematch, autimatically. He lost, but his years of work afforded him a rematch. And when Ronda Rousey was dominated by Holly Holm, she has been granted the chance to basically pick the date of her rematch. So Aldo deserves the same respect.
Which leads me to the next fight.....
Which leads me to the next fight.....
Holly Holm vs Ronda Rousey
Holly Holm vs Ronda Rousey rematch will be huge. It looks like it may happen at UFC 200 in July, which is a long time for a champion to sit out, but it may be the best decision. But there is no way, if I'm Holm, I wait any longer for Rousey. Word is Ronda may not be ready until the Fall due to filming a movie and possibly needing to change her game plan. In that case, Holm should fight someone else. She should not have to sit around for a chick who's ass she already kicked. Rousey needs to get her shit together and get back into the Octagon and stop worrying about being a movie star.
Jon Jones vs Daniel Cormier
Yes, another rematch. This fight is more so amusement more than anything. Daniel Cormier is walking around with a fake interim title, like he actually is the champion. Lol. Like we all didn't just see Jon Jones beat his ass last year, and dispose of him like he was nothing. If Jones hadn't gotten into legal trouble and been stripped of his championship, he was still be dominating the UFC. I can't wait for Jon Jones to come back and destroy everyone in his path. And I hope he takes Cormier's fake belt and throws it in the trash.
Anderson Silva vs George St. Pierre
Long time fans of the UFC know how much we have all wanted to see this fight. So when news broke that GSP was thinking about coming back, we all got excited. Neither man is really worried about championships at this point, but if there is a fight that would really be advertised as the battle of the two best ever in their respective weight divisions, even possibly as the main event of UFC 200, this would be the fight I would make. The Spider vs Superman.
TJ Dillashaw vs Dominick Cruz
Dominick Cruz is one of the best fighters in the world, but injuries have really derailed his career. He never lost the Bantamweight title, and had to surrender it after suffering multiple leg injuries. The man has missed so much time out f the cage, but he is till one of the best. He has the fight with Dillashaw in January, and I can't wait. I am pulling for Cruz as I have no respect for TJ. And when Dillashaw loses, I have the perfect match up for him later in the year....
TJ Dillashaw vs Urijah Faber
If you don't know the story, look it up. Urijah is a legend in this sport at this point. He has earned my respect over the years, as I used to didn't like the guy. But he has really become one of my favorite guys in the sport because he gives back to young fighters and tries to help train guys to be better. That is what he did for TJ Dillashaw. He took TJ under his wing and groomed him. Helped him all along the way, only for Dillashaw to stab him in the back and jump camps. Now, I want Urijah to kick the young punks ass. Though he probably won't.
Frankie Edgar vs Conor McGregor
If UFC opts not to give Aldo his rematch, the clear number 1 contender in the featherweight division is Frankie Edgar, after his knockout win over Chad Mendes. Edgar is one of the best ever, and he will urely give Conor a great fight. I would pay money to see a good extended fight between these two.
Conor McGregor vs Donald Cerrone
Conor has been saying that he's going to hold the featherweight title, then move up to 155 and grab the lightweight title. In that case the fight that many of us want to see is Conor vs Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone. Cerrone hopefully beat Dos Anjos this Saturday night for the title, then that sets up a match with Conor. This started at the UFC "GO BIG" press conference, when Conor was being Conor and was talking shit to a bunch of the fighters on stage, and then had a smart comment about Cowboy. Well Cowboy don't play that shit. He was the only one who could go back and forth with Conor. I would love the buildup for this match.
