A Journey to Remember: The Million Man March 2015
On Friday night, Rick Williams and I traveled to Washington D.C for Saturday's Million Man March. We secured a hotel room in advanced just a few blocks from the Washington National Mall, the location of the prestigious event, to ensure that we would have no issue being front and center for the gathering.
I made sure to carry my hand held camcorder, to capture as much of the day as I could. The video does not begin to capture the tenor of the crowd, the excitement in the air, and the pride we all felt.
On Friday, Rick and I gave discussed why we chose to go, and what we were looking to get out of the experience.

Later that night, my cousin Dorian (Derrick) Jones, joined us in D.C, so we could walk to the march together in the morning. Before we ate a quick breakfast, I asked the gentleman for their thoughts before our journey.
Next we enter the premises of the National Mall. Unedited.
We meet up with fellow Crew members, Justin Harris and Calvin Thomas, who caught the train down to DC early Saturday morning.
After traveling down the Mall closer to the State Capital, we posted up just across the water, at the closet location we could to the main area. It was beautiful site to behold. Brothers and Sisters, as there were many women in attendance, all in harmony.
Through the day we heard various speakers from all cultures and creeds. I was surprised but happy that all people who have been disenfranchised were represented and given a voice. This added to the strength of the event, as we all stood to together in unity. Injustice anywhere, is injustice everywhere.
Here are some of the powerful moments.

Then we heard from some of the family members of the brothers and sisters who's lives were cut shot at the hand of police brutality. Powerful.
Next up, was a power and well thought out message by Pastor Jamal Bryant of the Empowerment Temple, here in Baltimore. Pastor Bryant has many critics, but I know without a shadow of a doubt, the man speaks with the power and the authority of the Holy Ghost and he shook the crowd to shouting. Glory be to the Lord, Jesus Christ.
Next up we got a memorial for all those Black lives we lost, that were killed off by the ones appointed to protect. Their lives truly mattered.
I didn't record the entire speech, but Minister Farrakhan gave the keynote address, which was filled with very good information and history. Though I may not agree with all his ideologies, I can respect the strong leader that he is.
There is so much much more footage I have which will require some editing, but I wanted to get this up as soon as possible, so that those who were not in attendance, could see our perspective of the day.
Later, we went to dinner and I asked the gentlemen their overall thoughts of the events and what they got out of it.
First up Justin Harris.
