Run It Back: The Weekly DVR Review -
Summer TV Review
This Summer I introduced a new feature here at Causioncreations, where I reviewed every show that I recorded on my DVR each week. This has become one of the most popular features on the site, so I have decided to keep it going this Fall. But before we get to the Fall premieres, this week, we will review some of the best shows I watched this Summer and give my thoughts on Finales that already aired or the finales that will air shortly.
Feed the Beast - Well, after investing my time into a new series and enjoying it, I have been fooled yet again. Feed the Beast was cancelled after only 1 season on AMC, and I'm not happy about it. The season Finale was action and story-line packed, and it was amazing to finally see and hear TJ speak for the first time. And then we get no follow up. This is why people hate investing in a new show until its a few seasons old and you can binge watch on Netflix. Sucks.
Tyrant - Round 2 of Fuck you Larry, they cancelled one of the best TV shows, period. How can you cancel Tyrant? HOW!!! This is crazy. This seaosn was so damn good and it really took the show in a different direction, for the better. So how does FX repay the show runner? Cancelled. Pathetic man!!!
Dating Naked - The season finale of Dating Naked was excellent and we got the payoff we all wanted, David and Nat chose each other!!! I loved this season as it was well cast and the main suitors were down to earth good people that made you want to root for them. Very satisfying finale.
Greenleaf - Season 1 of Greenleaf shattered every expectation I had and really did a great job of letting stories play out naturally, and not hitting you over the head with the same themes that have been covered in black church plays for years. No question, this show is a hit, and the finale was fire. Its great to see a show where everything wasn't resolved, everything wasn't sunny and light, but you can see building blocks for a clear direction for season 2. Great job OWN.
Big Brother - This seaosn of Big Brother really fell off the cliff for me once some of the bigger personalities were eliminated. As of writing this, we are down to the final three between Paul, Nicole and James. I love James, and he was one of my favorites last year. But honestly, he really disappointed me being a bitch this year, scared to make moves and ruffle feathers when he should have. Nicole is the absolute worst. And Paul is just so annoying. I have a feeling James will be eliminated and we will be stuck choosing between Paul and Nicole. If that's the case, I may not even watch the finale.
Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll - Why the hell would FX cancel such a funny, entertaining and well cast show. This is a travesty!!! I really have no words. They just bridged off into a direction that could produce so many great story-lines, and then the show is just cancelled? STUPID!!!!!!
The Last Ship - I can honestly say that I can't definitively say that there is a show I like more on TV than The Last Ship. What a great damn show. The season finale where Chandler left the Navy was crazy good. The man lost his wife and now his father, while he was out protecting the country. The way the scene was written where he decided he was done was extremely well done. Man this show is excellent and I can't wait until next season.
Ballers - The finale of Ballers really left us wondering what the hell is wrong with Spencer. Not only is he determined to by the Sports division, but he's borrowing money from clients to do so? And not just money, but millions of dollars. I like the direction the writers took us in season 2. Season 1's finale was all sunny and had a happy ending. This season ended with doubt and alot of grey area to it. Plus there the issue of Spencer's health. Very well done season and I can't wait for season 3.
Power - Ghost and Tommy just don't trust each other enough to be real with each other, and its all Ghost fault. With one episode left, this seaosn of Power has hands down been its best yet. One shocking Revelation after another has turned the show into must see TV, and the finale will probably break all the shows viewership records. I predict that Tommy will stay loyal to Ghost and they will take down Milan. But waiting in the wings is Kanan, and he is out for blood.
